St. Louis CITY SC has turned the page once again, naming Yoann Damet as the club’s third head coach. He follows Bradly Carnell, who guided CITY through its inaugural MLS campaign, and Olof Mellberg, whose disastrous 17-match stint short-circuited the 2025 CITY campaign. Damet edged out several candidates, most notably interim coach David Critchley, to secure the role.
The 35-year-old Marseille native began his head coaching career in France at age 16, coaching the Under-13 squad for Beaune FC for five years. After additional time in Europe, he came to North America in 2014, coaching in the Montréal Impact (now CF Montréal) system. Further stops in Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and Columbus followed, with the Columbus stop notable for being there at the same time as new CITY Sporting Director Corey Wray.
CITY SC officials highlighted Damet's MLS experience at the assistant level as particularly appealing, as well as his time with successful MLS coaching staffs over the past decade. Interim David Critchley is expected to remain with the club in a yet to be announced role.
