BOHFS St. Louis falls to Chicago Nation in U.S. Open Cup qualifier

BOHFS St. Louis' run in the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ended Sunday with a 4-2 loss to Chicago Nation in a second-round qualifier at Sport360 Soccer Complex in St. Charles. Brian Bement gave BOHFS a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, but Chicago Nation answered three minutes later and added a second goal in the 38th for a 2-1 halftime lead. Preston Huitron scored in the 32nd, 56th and 73rd minutes for a hat trick, and Bement's second goal in the 58th minute cut the deficit to one before Huitron's third put the match away.

BOHFS did not repeat their magical cup run from 2026, but there is plenty to be proud of. The home side pushed back after falling behind, and a great crowd turned out to support grassroots soccer, lining the fences and sidelines from the afternoon sun into the evening. For a club built on local soccer, the support on a Sunday in St. Charles was a reminder of what this run has meant to the community.
