Edelman, who will turn 23 on April 28th, joined the Red Bulls Academy in 2020, making his professional debut with New York Red Bulls II in July of that year. In 2022, Edelman signed with the MLS club, serving primarily as a defensive midfielder and earning recognition for his ball‑winning and tactical discipline.

Internationally, Edelman has represented the United States at the U16, U20 (where he served as Captain), and U23 levels, accumulating 20 youth caps between 2019 and 2024.

Edelman fills a need for CITY at the 6, or defensive midfield position, which saw inconsistent play in 2025 from Chris Durkin and Alfredo Morales.

Edelman doesn't possess elite recovery speed, but he does bring physicality and field awareness to the defensive midfield. He identifies potential danger areas and positions himself correctly, as shown here against Atlanta in 2025:
