City SC Posse - Ep21: CITY Is 8th, Hartel Is Cooking, and Colorado Is Next

St. Louis CITY SC is no longer just playing better. CITY is officially climbing.

On this episode of City SC Posse, Bright and Kev recap CITY’s 3-1 road win over LA Galaxy, a result that pushed St. Louis into 8th place in the Western Conference and continued one of the hottest runs of form in MLS. Bright opens by welcoming new listeners and explaining what City SC Posse is all about: casual fan reaction, the eye test, match impressions, standings, stadium experience, and the moments fans actually talk about.

The guys break down the LA win, starting with Kyle McNaughton’s strong header to open the scoring and the immediate Galaxy response that forced Roman Bürki into an important save on Marco Reus. Bürki’s return matters after the strange “fitness” questions from the previous match and Ben Lundt’s costly mistake against Sporting KC.

Then Marcel Hartel took over. His first-half stoppage-time goal gave CITY a 2-0 lead at halftime, and he finished the night with a goal and two assists. Bright and Kev discuss how Hartel is becoming the attacking centerpiece for CITY and why his recent form changes the feel of the entire offense.

The Becher conversation is also back. Simon Becher scored CITY’s third goal after a beautiful quick passing move, helped draw the Galaxy red card, and remains a useful, annoying, high-energy forward. But he also missed multiple chances, which keeps the No. 9 debate alive.

Bright and Kev also discuss the Garcés red card, Damet’s postgame comments, CITY’s refusal to just sit back after going up a man, and the frustration of losing the clean sheet on a late defensive breakdown. Even with some cleanup needed, this was a real road win and another sign that CITY’s form is not a fluke.

Then the focus shifts to Colorado. CITY is now 8th, riding a six or seven match unbeaten run depending on whether you include the Open Cup, and has a home match against a Colorado team it recently beat on the road. Bright and Kev talk lineup questions, whether Sang-Bin should start, Wallem’s availability, Mățan potentially being available, betting angles, and why Saturday is a real chance to keep climbing the Western Conference table.

CITY went to LA and made a statement. Now Colorado comes to St. Louis.
