9/16/26 CITY Open Cup Away Game vs Colorado Rapids: Soccer in Society with Joe Olwig, 1988 Busch Seniors Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Champions

During the Y98 halftime show, Jen Siess talked with Joe Olwig with World Wide Technology who was also an attacker on that St. Louis Busch Seniors team that won the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Championship in 1988. Joe shared his fond memories of that 1988 team which went all the way with STL’s soccer talent, hard-working ethic, and team-oriented style of play. He also talked about how the St. Louis CITY SC exhibits many of these qualities in their style of play that has brought them to the Open Cup semifinal match. Finally, Joe expressed his pride in STL’s deep soccer roots as the Soccer Capital of the US coming of the FIFA Men’s World Cup and looking forward to supporting The Beautiful Game as a community for soccer events yet to come.
